These are the islands: some have as many as 1.2 million residents plus another 3 million visitors, living within a couple miles of massive coral reef ecosystems. For many of these folks, interaction with the nearshore environment is a major focus of their lives; whether through recreation, business, subsistence, or daily activities. When their actions result in harm to our marine natural resources, that’s where I come in—I carry a pair of fins.
Here’s your chance to become a marine detective and learn about many of the issues affecting coral reef ecosystems. In the process, you’ll improve your deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills… keep in mind that asking the right question is often more important that getting the right answer.
